Explore the world of Transpersonal Art Therapy and be gently guided into a world of self-discovery through art therapy in Melbourne.
About Artivive
Allow yourself to experience the world of art therapy in Melbourne, specifically through Transpersonal Art Therapy.
The word “transpersonal” refers to “beyond the mask” and day to day conscious thought. The psychological model of counselling relies primarily on verbal dialogue, which can often be limiting to some clients who may be dysregulated due to trauma, grief, neurodivergence, mental health- related issues and struggling to find the language to express particular thoughts and emotions.
Art Therapy classes provides a range of creative modalities to gently guide the client while exploring their own inner world.
The Transpersonal Art Therapist’s role is to help link the client’s deeper unconscious thought and reframe it in a way that is both cathartic and healing.
How we help
Helping young minds express emotions.
Helping children develop resilience.
Supporting parents through life's challenge.
Healing through guided artistic expression.
OUR TEAM
Hello, and thank you for being here. My name is Andrea Bensch, and I have a passion for working with people and facilitating healing through sensory and creative expression.
My aim is to blend these concepts with psychotherapeutic- based training.
I have experienced the profound insights that can be revealed through transpersonal art therapy classes, having gone on my own personal journey during a challenging phase of my life.
I also have a love for the outdoors and exploring nature- based play, which I enjoy embedding into my practice, particularly when working with children and adolescents with sensory- seeking behaviours.
My philosophy as a Transpersonal Art Therapist is to remain client- centred at all times and provide a safe and secure environment to explore their inner world, at a pace that feels right for them.
I assist clients to access their own inner wisdom and clarity through artistic expression.
WHAT WE DO
Be the creator of your own healing journey.
Finding ways to express our inner wants and desires is a challenge. We all resonate with different modalities, and at Artivive, you will be gently guided towards what that looks like for you through our art therapy courses in Melbourne.
Children connecting with creative expression can be a powerful form of communication. While they often may not have the language to regulate emotion and feelings they can connect to their inner dialogue through a range of sensory and creative experiences. This process can ease anxiety and create a sense of calm.
Transpersonal Art Therapy embraces links between spirituality, psychology and art. This approach goes beyond the conscious state of being and delves into the deeper sense of self. This can include guided visualisation and meditation, symbology and practicing mindfulness.
Transpersonal Art Therapy provides a safe and calm environment for acceptance and healing. Each session is at the client's pace and built around their self awareness and peaks of self discovery. This can be achieved through a range of techniques such as life mapping, mandalas, visualisation and symbol work.

Contact Andrea for a free phone consultation to see if Transpersonal Art Therapy is right for you. There are a range of methods that can be incorporated to attain a happier sense of being.
Whether painting in acrylics or watercolors, or drawing in pastel, pencil, charcoal, texta..these materials are used as tools that are often combined with guided visualisation, music, relaxation techniques and mind mapping. The therapist facilitates what comes up creatively through the clients inner wisdom and helps them to find the meaning within.
Using clay is a very primal method of expression, using our hands to create unique shapes and every imprint of our fingers can be held. Clay can be considered a holistic experience while using our hands, eyes and imagination. Using clay has been widely recognised for reducing anxiety and low mood also for addressing issues around aggression.
Symbols are an important part of transpersonal work. We often don't know how to recognise symbols in our life until we begin to tune into our deeper senses. It is up to the individual what each symbol means to them, the therapist will help to guide the clients inner wisdom to work out what that is and what it means to them.
Sand tray work has become widely used as a nonverbal and symbolic therapeutic practice. Miniature figures, animals, and other familiar objects are offered for the client to choose from and begin to create their own sand tray narrative. The therapist can then start to work with the symbols and metaphorical meaning within. Using sand is a soothing experience to further provide a sense of calm.
The client is invited to relax and allow themselves to be gently and carefully guided through a mesmerising visualisation. This can then lead to a stream of consciousness writing, drawing/painting what comes up for the client and together can be unpacked to uncover the deeper meaning.
Art therapy classes involve using creative techniques like painting, drawing, or clay work to explore emotions, process experiences, and improve mental well-being. At Artivive, sessions are guided by a certified Transpersonal Art Therapist and are tailored to individual needs.
